works every time, why didn't they include it when i bought the scanner?

Greeting: I just bought a new computer and was dismayed to find that HP doesn't provide drivers for my Scanjet 5400c. I read another post referring a member of this forum to the VueScan website for 3rd party drivers, but I don't see my specific scanner model there. I have a HP 4470c scanjet that I use with my HP Pavillion with windows 98 se. Although I have a new vista computer with a 3 in 1 printer. I need my old 98 for my old graphics software which is not compatable with anything newer. Problem is the 4470c scanjet suddenly has developed blue lines through the images I scan on it. The image is fine except for the blue lines.
